    POSITION SUMMARY

    The NDT Trainee’s role involves a commitment to attain the skills and experience to undertake work in a wide range of environments. It requires a commitment to gain knowledge of applicable standards and codes and manufacturing processes. Test results are often a result of interpretation and therefore experience gained will become an important attribute. The job involves a working alongside, and taking direction from, experienced technicians. Trainees will likely start out performing Positive Material Identification or Automated Phased Array. Whenever possible will assist level II personnel to gain experience in MT, PT, and RT.

    Responsibilities

    • To carry out assistance for NDT in a reliable and competent manner in accordance with procedures. To provide our clients with a high level of service in all aspects of the job.
    • Operate safely, with particular emphasis on radiation safety.
    • Completion of testing in accordance with code and procedure requirements.
    • Assisting with accurate and prompt reporting of test results and details.
    • Equipment maintenance.
    • Client service.
    • Business improvement through identification of opportunities for better ways of delivering our services.
    • Personal development of skills and competencies.
    • No radiation incidents. No injuries.
    • Compliance with codes, procedures and our operating system.
    • Assist with completion of reports prior to commencing next job. No report reissues as a result of inaccurate or insufficient detail.
    • Equipment maintained in clean and work- like condition. Malfunctions or problems promptly reported to supervisor for attention.
    • Responding to client time frames and requirements in a timely and courteous manner. Getting reports drafted promptly for review.
    • Advising manager or supervisor of ideas for improvement or opportunities.
    • Having a plan for personal development and implementing it.
    • Job can be very physical at times. Must be able to pick up 50 lbs and lift overhead. Must be able to walk 300 meters while carrying 50 lbs of gear. Must also be able to climb stairs 10 or more stories with gear.
    • Must be able to work in extreme temperature conditions and be comfortable working at height and in confined spaces.

    Qualifications

     

     

    • Have a valid driver’s license
    • Have or be capable of obtaining a TWIC Card
    • Previous industrial experience preferable
    • Customer focus.
    • Sound typing and data entry skills.
