    Responsibilities

    The Technology Solutions Manager is accountable to the Business Stream Leader (GM) and is responsible for ensuring the technology solution needs of the Business Stream are defined, implemented, and supported. Responsibilities and expectations include the following:

    • Be intimate with the business processes, industry landscape, competitive drivers, business tactical and strategic plans.
    • Spend sufficient time in the “field” to maintain a high level of knowledge and awareness of operations, challenges, opportunities, and needs.
    • Working with the Business Stream Leader (GM), CIO, and the Technology Architecture team, assess applicability of new technologies, develop solution strategies and road-maps. Identify solutions that enable the business strategy and competitive drivers.
    • Responsible for the following related to LIMS and other systems (working with the GM, development staff, and IT Architects): understanding and documentation of functional requirements, organization and delivery of requirements (ensure functionality is delivered within the agreed to timelines and acceptable quality), management of development priorities, system design/architecture, and system backup and disaster recovery.
    • Working with business operations and IT staff, develop project plans and oversee execution. Accountable for execution results.
    • Gain complete alignment with the GM, the CIO and relevant IT staff before any decisions or investments are made in technology solutions.
    • Working with IT Operations, ensure that the systems are operating with acceptable performance and reliability. Also, ensure that system backup and disaster recovery for all systems are defined, documented, and are in place.
    • Working with IT Teams, ensure IT services delivered meet the needs of the operations and with acceptable quality.
    • Advise, evaluate and report on information technology risks and issues.
    • Ensure system documentation are complete and up to date (technical and functional; documentation describing the architecture, interfaces, system environment, and special jobs required to ensure the integrity of the application and data).
    • Availability for flexible working including travel to national and international locations, as required
    • Since IT staff are a shared service and do not report directly into this position, he/she must be very effective at execution and accountability without some of the support staff being accountable to him/her.The position requires exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to effectively communicate. This individual will have a diversified background in information technology and must demonstrate understanding of enterprise technology solutions, ideally in an ERP or similar environment. The person must demonstrate ability to effectively manage projects and have excellent vendor management skills; an adept leader with a service-oriented approach to technology.

    Quality Responsibilities:

    • Ensure that any materials created such as policies are properly named/numbered and version control practices are observed.

    Occupational Health & Safety Responsibilities:

    • To be familiar with the OH&S policies and procedures as applicable to this position scope.

    Qualifications

    • A total of 12+ years in the IT field, with significant experience in enterprise systems such as ERP, LIMS, and the like. Experience ideally includes systems architecture, development, implementation, application management and support, or a combination of the above.
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or experience commiserate.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of current and emerging technology, technology directions and strategic application to business needs.
    • Ideally, experience with implementing innovative technology solutions.
    • Excellent project management skills, including ability to effectively deploy resources and manage multiple projects of diverse scope in a cross-functional environment.
    • Strong business acumen in managing costs, developing business cases, and delivering cost effective solutions.
    • International experience.
    • Ability to travel, up to 30%.
    • Host regular team meetings / information sessions.
    • Commit to listen to and understand others, act on ideas and suggestions, share relevant and accurate information and provide timely feedback when require.
