Overview

General Accountability: The primary purpose of this position is to work with the sample control team in all activities involved with maintaining proper sample storage conditions, chain-of-custody requirements, and proper sample disposal.

 

ALS Environmental

Responsibilities

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Ensure samples are maintained within proper storage conditions.
  • Complete sample orders on time.
  • Ensure samples & waste is properly labelled at all times.
  • Ensure samples are disposed of following all applicable federal and state laws.
  • Assist with sample receipt team as necessary to process incoming samples.
  • Follow all applicable laboratory SOPs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and directed. 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Candidate must be detail oriented and able to closely follow laboratory procedures.
  • Candidate must be organized and effectively manage time commitments.
  • Good typing / data entry skills are required.
  • Applicant should be familiar with general scientific terminology.
  • Individuals must have a demonstrated ability to communicate professionally, both verbally and written.
  • Must be able to comply with company dress policy for client service positions
  • Ability to multi-task and work as part of a team.
  • Position requires a flexible schedule to meet client & laboratory needs. 

 

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma is required.
  • Some college level courses in a science curriculum are preferred.
  • 40hr Hazardous waste operator’s certification is preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • The ability to stand for intervals of up to 4 hours while working. 
  • Able to speak and hear clearly while communicating with co-workers and managers.
  • Dexterity in hands and fingers to operate equipment and handle glassware.
  • Must have average vision and able to see to read reports and operate equipment.
  • Hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
