Responsibilities

Specific Responsibilities:

 

  • Operate and perform maintenance on ICP, AA & SIE instruments;
  • Perform wet assay analytical works including gravimetric and volumetric analyses;
  • Perform Umpire and Control analyses;
  • Prepare sample dilutions, instrument operating solutions and calibration standards;
  • Test and evaluate calibration standards;
  • Identify and correct QC related problems by ensuring the quality of the analytical data meets ALS standards;
  • Organize workload according to daily stats and turnaround commitments in the absence of T3, supervisor and manager;
  • Follow up on rush priority work orders;
  • Effectively liaise within department to communicate safety, quality and operational issues;
  • Ensure all work instructions and standard working procedures are strictly adhered to;
  • In conjunction with the supervisor, perform tests to modify and improve analytical procedures;
  • Maintain and organize equipment and other ISO document records;
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following all safety requirements within the Safety Manual and communicating all safety concerns to the Manager.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong analytical skills and wet assay techniques;
  • Quality focused individual; Commitment to Excellence, Team Leader
  • Organized, highly motivated, detail oriented and able to work both independently and as part of a team;
  • Ability to effectively handle a high volume of work and time critical issues;
  • Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal);
  • Strong MS Office skills, specifically MS Word, Excel and Outlook.

Qualifications

 

 

  • Diploma/Degree in Chemical Sciences or Technology, or BCIT Certificate Preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year laboratory work experience in analytical chemistry, instrumentation or a related field preferred.

 

  • Required Qualifications:
  • Diploma or Degree in Chemical Sciences or Technology preferred but not required.
