About the role:

 

We are seeking a Laboratory Technician who will be responsible for the preparation of samples for analysis. Our lab tests nutraceutical supplements, blood and urine for the presence of banned substances as well as water and soil samples for physical properties and/or contaminants. To perform this job successfully, an individual must perform each essential duty with accuracy and attention to detail. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

 

Responsibilities

About you:

  • Responsible for the preparation of nutraceutical supplements, blood, urine, water and soil samples as required per the analytical methods.
  • Entering client sample information into the LIMS database.
  • Basic maintenance of equipment including calibration and standardization.
  • Meet sample production requirements as determined by the laboratory manager.
  • Safe handling of solvents and reagents.
  • Follow SOP’s.
  • Exercise laboratory safety practices.
  • Strong commitment to quality and integrity.
  • Conduct all testing procedures in conformance with the ISO/IEC 17025 Testing Laboratory Standard, as applicable.
  • Conduct all safety and hazardous waste management activities in accordance with the ALS Environmental divisional Health, Safety, and Environmental (HS&E) compliance policies and procedures, to include, but not limited to, the division’s Chemical Hygiene Plan (CHP), Hazardous Waste Management (HWM) Standard Safety Procedure (SSP), Contingency Plan

 

Required Qualifications:

  • AA is preferred.
  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • 0 – 3 years of laboratory experience is preferred.
  • Entry level laboratory position.
  • Basic Mathematical skills.
  • Working knowledge of computer software.
  • Diligent work ethic and the ability to work independently.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle numerous details.
  • Ability to occasionally work overtime, evenings, and weekends.

 

Physical Demands:

 

  • The ability to stand for intervals of up to 8 hours while working; 
  • Able to speak and hear clearly while communicating with co-workers and managers;
  • Dexterity in hands and fingers to operate equipment and handle glassware;
  • Must have average vision and able to see to read reports and operate equipment;
  • Hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
